As I am writing my doctoral thesis on Political Ecology of Godavari, I found this verse which I wrote while I use to travel for fieldwork from Mohali, Punjab to Nashik:
I ask myself every day and night – Why Godavari?
Crossing the land of five rivers – Punjab,
Traversing through the mysterious Chambal Valley,
Embracing the mighty Narmada, Fiddling with the Tapi,
I reach in the cradle of Godavari.Every time in the lap of Godavari,
I feel the excitement of reaching the destination,
But with an anxiety of beginning a new journey.However, the question remains – Why Godavari?
