Brief Profile: I have been working on various aspects of fish conservation and fisheries in the lower basin of Godavari River in Andhra Pradesh since 2013. My PhD focuses on studying the community structure of fishes in the protected mangrove forests of the Godavari Delta, i.e. in Coringa Wildlife Sanctuary. At the same time I have studied the fish diversity of Papikonda National Park, which is ~100km upstream of Coringa and is part of the northern Eastern Ghats landscape. Here I have been working on a project to understand the conservation status of Mahseers and other threatened fish species, and their socio-economic importance in the local freshwater fisheries.
